— Eco Earth Design to Teach Green Landscape Techniques at Feb. 25 Green Fair —
The local community will get an opportunity to learn about environmentally responsible landscape design from the region’s experts in the field — Midland Park, N.J.-based Eco Earth Design — during the Fair Lawn Green Fair. Sponsored by the Fair Lawn Environmental Commission, the Fair Lawn Green Fair will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25 at the Fair Lawn Community Center, 10-10 20th Street.
Free and open to the public, the event will focus on new, more natural techniques for storm water management. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn how to protect water quality through non-structural practices in new developments and retro fits in already-developed areas. The presentation will inform residents about the latest New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection regulations on runoff and the implications for property owners. Fair Lawn’s recent enactment of an ordinance intended to regulate the use of fertilizers and pesticides is a response to these more stringent NJDEP regulations.
Experts from Eco Earth Design will be on hand to offer insight into the best practices for sustainable landscape design, including rain gardens; reducing impervious surfaces; reducing pesticide use; installing green roof technology; ecologically sensitive outdoor solutions; and water efficient irrigation design and installation.
“One of the best ways to reduce storm water runoff is through sustainable landscape design,” stated Robert Schucker, president of Eco Earth Design. “We look forward to this opportunity to share our knowledge with the Fair Lawn community. Our presentation will be especially beneficial to building owners and managers, architects, engineers and homeowners.”
Attendees of the Fair Lawn Green Fair will also be able to examine ways to develop facilities and programs that improve bicycle and pedestrian opportunities, and learn how to plan walking/biking infrastructure, promote walk-to-school programs and use tools such as traffic calming to increase pedestrian traffic.
“The Fair Lawn Environmental Commission is committed to making Fair Lawn a more sustainable place to live, and they’ve organized a very informative event,” Schucker stated.
Eco Earth Design collaborates with architects, building managers, contractors, engineers, green consultants and property owners to create an integrated approach to landscape development. In addition to Schucker, the company is comprised of a highly qualified and diverse group of passionate professionals dedicated to creating and building outdoor spaces that are sensitive to the specific site, architecture, environment and lifestyle of its clients.
