The Garden State Harmonica Club monthly meeting will be held on April 5, 2010 at 7:30 pm in the rectory, left of Grace Episcopal Church, 138 West Passaic Ave in Rutherford, NJ. Business meetings are held regularly on the first Monday of each month.
The Club invites anyone interested in the harmonica or harmonica music to join the group to play or listen after the short business meeting. Light refreshments are available to attendees during the meeting.
Among the celebrity members are Phil Caltabellotta, Tom Scerbo and Frank Grova(members of the trio, The Melody Men) Carlos Colina (& The Straight Up Blues Band), Daddy “T” (Charlie Toker) and the 17 North Band, Harry Feinberg, famous member of the Harmonica Rascals and Rob Paparozzi, Lead singer of Blood, Sweat and Tears and grammy nominee for his CD “Etruscan Soul”.
Our 37th annual Harmonica Festival held at The Holiday Inn located in Hasbrouck Heights, was an astounding success! We couldn’t have asked for more with our harmonica celebrities performing brilliantly and hanging out in the halls with the attendees. An international crowd from England, Italy, The Netherlands and Canada joined people from all over the USA to embrace these magical moments. A record crowd of 245 people surpassed our expectations! The goals of having all types of harmonica music including, blues, jazz, classical, country, bluegrass, trio, Latin and more played on chromatic, diatonic, chord, and bass were more than met. With the surprise appearance of Howard Levy, there was even more magic in the air! The introduction of young fellows playing and then teaching a beginners class for children was just more icing on the cake! Preparations are already underway for our 2010 Harmonica Festival to celebrate our 38th Anniversary from Nov.18 - 20 at The Holiday Inn, Hasbrouck Heights, NJ.
The Garden State Harmonica Club Ensemble can be booked to play for groups for a small donation. They entertain at retirement and veterans’ homes, churches, clubs, assisted living centers, civic groups, etc., several times a month. For information and availability, call 201-891-2410 or e-mail to gardenstateharmonicaclub@hotmail.com.
The Garden State Harmonica Club was founded in 1971 to promote the enjoyment of the harmonica. Anyone with similar interests is invited to meetings for their pleasure. New members are welcome and annual dues are just $25.00. Additional details and a downloadable membership application may be found on the Club’s website: www.gardenstateharmonicaclub.org.
