Car Burglar Arrested - Rochelle Park Police

On 3/11/10 at 4:30 PM Detective Jim DePreta reported seeing a suspected car burglar riding a bicycle on Plaza Way. The male and his bicycle matched the description provided to police following several auto burglaries in Maywood and surrounding communities. A search of the area was conducted and the suspect was not found. The search did reveal that the suspect had just broken into a vehicle at 18 Overlook Ave., Air Brook Limo.
The victim reported a "Tom Tom" GPS Units was stolen from the vehicle. On 3/16/10 the South Hackensack Police Department arrested a suspect matching the same description, for several car burglaries. Rochelle Park Detectives positively identified the suspect, Floyd W. Gaines age 40, of Hackensack, as the party responsible for the burglary committed on Overlook Avenue. Gaines was charged with burglary and theft. Chief Zavinsky credited the co-ordinated effort by several police agencies for solving the car burglaries. Gaines is currently housed in the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail.
