Presentation will educate the community on how to live “greener” and healthier lives
Just seven months after helping Gilda’s Club Northern New Jersey (Gilda’s Club NNJ) rededicate its newly “green” facility, Deirdre Imus - best-selling author, philanthropist and children’s health advocate - will speak at the Hackensack clubhouse on Earth Day, Thursday, April 22 at 6 p.m.
Ms. Imus, who served as a consultant on the “green” renovation, will educate the community on how small lifestyle changes - like choosing local and organic foods and natural personal care products - can benefit your overall health and prevent exposure to environmental toxins and carcinogens that can lead to health problems.
"I’m so pleased to have this opportunity to speak with members of Gilda’s Club and the community to help them change their lifestyles in ways that will support their health,” said Ms. Imus, who recently joined the board of directors of Gilda’s Club NNJ. “Environmentally friendly materials can be a boon for cancer patients whose immune systems are compromised. I’m delighted to help Gilda’s Club continue to make strides in providing a healthier environment for their members and the community.”
Ms. Imus is the founder and president of The Deirdre Imus Environmental Center for Pediatric Oncology at Hackensack University Medical Center, co-founder and co-director of the Imus Cattle Ranch for Kids with Cancer and the best-selling author of the Green This! series of “lifestyle detoxification” books.
“In the spirit of Earth Day, we couldn’t be more excited to have Deirdre Imus speak at our clubhouse. She is a true advocate for people who may be affected by environmental toxins and a dedicated member of our board. We look forward to learning more ways we can improve our environment, health and well-being,” said Ruth Dugan, board president of Gilda’s Club.
Ms. Imus’ presentation at 575 Main Street in Hackensack is open to the public at no cost. More information about Gilda’s Club NNJ is available at www.gildasclubnnj.org.
