A Nikki Turner Presents novel Invincible is the first endeavor by rapper Styles P into the literary field. He maintains the argot of a street person which makes reading both easy and difficult. It is a look into the life of Jake Billings who is sent to prison and the life he leads there among the gangs and the fuzz. Flashbacks occur that are easy to follow. Most of the book is easy to follow.
Trying to fathom some of the ‘foreign’ language used in the street takes a little doing. It is a slang that many of us are not accustomed to, but not too difficult to understand. Based on street life, dope, drugs and mistrust, the plot evolves around Jake Billings and how he comes to be called Invincible.
If you’d like a night of easy reading and an adventure into a different world, you will like the story. Invincible is published by One World Books, an imprint of The Random House Publishing Group, a division of Random House, Inc.
