Heritage Pointe Of Teaneck Kicks Off Walking Club For Active Older Adults

Area Retirees are Invited to Join “Teaneck Trailblazers of Heritage Pointe” and Walk the Trails of Teaneck Creek Conservancy

Heritage Pointe of Teaneck, a full-service, rental retirement community adjacent to the Teaneck Creek Conservancy, is launching an official walking club for its residents and area retirees on Wednesday, June 9 at 9:30 a.m. at Heritage Pointe of Teaneck. The rain date will be Thursday, June 10 at 9:30 a.m. The club will meet regularly on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10 a.m.

Dubbed the “Teaneck Trailblazers of Heritage Pointe,” the club has evolved from an informal group of residents who enjoy daily walks together through the Conservancy’s 46 acres of woodlands, weather permitting. The official kick-off is being sponsored by Heritage Pointe, which will provide refreshments as part of the event. All area retirees who enjoy walking outdoors and would like to join the Teaneck Trailblazers are invited to attend and register.

The walking club began last year as a gathering of like-minded residents who enjoy brisk walks through the Conservancy as part of the active lifestyle offered at Heritage Pointe. The activity has garnered so much interest that it was decided to open the group to the public. The Teaneck Trailblazers’ walk will be led by Heritage Pointe resident Bill Rini, an avid outdoorsman and nature buff who will serve as the trail guide.

“We invite all active retirees from throughout Bergen County to join our Teaneck Trailblazers,” said Executive Director Donna Zayat. “The club is free, and encourages older adults to maintain optimal fitness amidst beautiful surroundings.” Zayat added that Heritage Pointe recently aligned with the non-profit Teaneck Creek Conservancy to offer educational programming and events to its residents and the surrounding community. Heritage Pointe will provide pedometers for all registered walkers.

Heritage Pointe of Teaneck is located at 600 Frank W. Burr Boulevard, near Route 4 just off of Interstates 80 and 95. In addition to the walking club and other fitness, cultural and educational activities, the community offers spacious apartments, distinctive amenities, and fine dining for active retirees.
