Paramus Senior Spring Fling 2010-
The Paramus Recreation Commission, under the leadership of Sue Regan, offers an annual Spring Fling for Senior Citizens. Held at Petruska Park, the bucolic setting lends itself to a day of relation, fun, games, food and a Tricky Tray auction. The weather also lent itself to a day of enjoyment; the arboral setting helped alleviate the soporific heat. Budget constraints were responsible for a $5.00 entry charge, but the crew at the Rec did yeoman service in operating with those constraints.
Paramus Senior Spring Fling 2010-- A DJ was present, Anthony Coppola of Triple Platinum Entertainment www.3platinum.com who played songs geared towards the era of the participants. He even asked for requests and played a special song for Alison, Assemblywoman Connie Wagner’s granddaughter. Alison and Haley, Mayor James Tedesco’s granddaughter enjoyed the atmosphere and the playground area.
Congeniality was the mood set as one could see Sam Casiello, Ralph Amato and Councilman Al Brundage wending their way through the audience saying hello to the seniors. Brundage and I had a very pleasant chat, our first! Councilman Rich LaBarbiera was happy to be there and was seen chatting with his political opponents in addition to visiting the relaxing seniors.
Along with the ticket were five stubs for the Tricky Tray Auction. People were urged to fill them out at home before arriving to make sure that their name, address and phone number were on the tickets in case they weren’t present at the time of the drawing. Knowing I wouldn’t be there, I gave my pre-addressed tickets to one of my favorite people, Louise Suppo, and told her to keep anything she won. Honest Louise called me the next day to let me know that my tickets had won a folding chair and to ask me if I wanted it. She received my congratulations on her new chair!
