Paramus Pool
When I arrived at the Paramus Municipal Pool this afternoon, it was surprising to see the lifeguards out on the front lawn playing games. Upon entering, one of them informed me that there had been a power outage for the surrounding area and that the lightning alarm had sounded. The pool was declared off-limits for the time being. Upon entering, I did see my friend Mark Distler who had his twins with him. He was waiting patiently in hopes the electricity would come back and the pool would be open.
Very interesting, while I was taking pictures of the pool and people, a young lad in pool shorts approached and informed me that this was a private pool and the press wasn’t allowed. He stated in no uncertain terms that I was to go see the manager at once. I said he was young didn’t I! When I told him that I would comply after I was finished, he stated that it would have to be now; right away!
I explained that I had permission to take pictures and do a story and if the manager wanted to see me, to have him come over! A little taken aback, he retreated to the Manager’s office where a very nice Assistant Manager came out and over to me. Randy Blum explained that he was just checking up and to go ahead. Glad to see that he was doing his job.
The power did come back on and people began to return to the pool. The Kiddyland area began squirting its fountains of water and the stalwarts were eager to go back in the water. I know that Mark was rearing to go!
The pool is open on weekends for now, as long as it is safe!
