12th Annual Walk for Awareness: Our Fight Against Breast Cancer Sunday, October 24, 2010

The 5-K loop around the City of Englewood, which was founded in 1999 by then-mayor Paul Fader and his wife Jill after her successful treatment for breast cancer, benefits The Leslie Simon Breast Care and Cytodiagnosis Center at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center. The walk also pays for mammograms and other potentially life-saving care for uninsured and underinsured women.
On Sunday October 24th at 1PM, Jill and Paul will lead the 12th annual Walk for Awareness, joined by hundreds of walkers and the spirit of countless other supporters. Thanks to The Susan Lucianna Memorial Dog Walk, which will start at the same time, all “Best Friends” are welcome.
The Walk for Awareness begins and ends at Englewood Hospital, 350 Engle Street, Englewood, NJ. Activities begin at 11AM, and pre-registration is requested, if possible. Unregistered walkers should arrive by 12PM at the latest. Walkers who preregister pay $20. Day of registration is $25. Breast cancer survivors walk for free. Dog walk registration is $10 per dog. The cost and promotional opportunities of sponsorships vary. Walkers will receive a 2010 Walk for Awareness t-shirt. Complimentary parking will be available in the employee garage at the north end of the Medical Center’s campus.
There are numerous ways to participate, including online fundraising through personal web pages. Visit walkforawareness.org or contact Englewood Hospital and Medical Center Foundation at 201-894-3725 or foundation@ehmc.com to register or to learn how you can get involved.
