PARAMUS, NJ-Care Plus Foundation will host its 3rd Annual Road to Wellness on October 10, 2010 at Darlington Park in Mahwah NJ. The event brings together all levels of cyclists and walkers for an enjoyable day of activity, live music, good food and fun to raise awareness of the positive link between mental wellness and physical activity. You’re sure to enjoy a beautiful fall day in the scenic hills of Northern New Jersey.
“We have a route for everyone – from the serious road warrior to the more casual rider and for those that prefer to walk. There’s even a Training Wheels & Trikes Rally for the littlest kids” said Christine Driscoll, Care Plus Foundation Executive Director.
Three cycling routes are available - Metric Century, 25 miles and 10 miles - depending on your skill and interest level. Prefer your own two feet? Try the Stroll in the Park which takes you through the scenic landscape of Darlington County Park. A picnic begins at 11:30 with great food, live music and children’s activities.
Registration for cyclists is $25 in advance, $30 the day of the event. Registration for walkers is $10 in advance, $12 the day of the event. Admission includes stocked rest areas, SAG support, post ride/walk picnic and live music. There is a discounted rate for groups of 5 or more. Registration is available online at www.careplusfoundation.org or by calling 201.986.5070.
Event proceeds will support: Care Plus NJ, whose innovative and life changing programming help the 1 in 4 in our community struggling with mental illness; The Alfred J. Thomas Veterans’ Home, whose mission is to ensure Bergen County homeless veterans are assisted in their return to the community by becoming self‑sufficient through rehabilitation; and The Bergen County Traumatic Loss Coalition (TLC), who address the crisis response needs of schools and youth for suicide prevention, intervention, and post-intervention.
“This event offers a great way for kids in our community to make a difference,” Ms. Driscoll notes. “We invite scouting troops, school groups and youth group to get a team together for a fun day of riding and raising money for those in need within our community.”
