Junior Achievement of NJ to Host First Liberty Mutual Invitational Amateur Golf Tournament to Benefit NJ Youth

Local amateur golfers will compete at Morris County Golf Club on September 27th in the Liberty Mutual Invitational, a charity golf tournament series featuring 73 events across the U.S. in 2010. The Tournament will benefit Junior Achievement of NJ, a non-profit that provides K-12 youth with hands-on financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship programs that are provided at no cost to local elementary schools.

The 2010 Liberty Mutual Invitational tournament series is expected to raise in excess of $5 million to support national and local charities. The 18-hole tournament at Morris County Golf Club will feature a scramble format where men and women amateur golfers of all skill levels compete in teams. Top teams will receive great prizes from Liberty Mutual, TaylorMade Adidas Golf, Polaroid and Sports Vision Eyewear at a cocktail and awards ceremony for all participants hosted by Morris County Golf Club. Golfers will start the day with a barbeque lunch, participate in a putting contest sponsored by Crowe Horwath and have a chance to win one million dollars at the $1,000,000,000 shoot-out hosted by Accenture and BNY Mellon Wealth Management.

Additionally ATC is the Driving Range Sponsor where golfers can practice their swing before they hit the green. The winning foursome will also earn the right to compete against other tournament winners from around the country for the Liberty Mutual Invitational National Finals, which will be played at Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, North Carolina, March 10th – 14th, 2011.

Tournament Director Amy said, “The JANJ North District Board of Directors has gone out of their way to make this tournament a success. We’re looking forward to an enjoyable event which will help support JANJ’s financial literacy-based programs for K-12 youth, which are provided at no cost to the schools. JA’s programs Empower young people to succeed in a global economy and own their future economic success”. Participating teams must consist of four amateur players whose combined USGA Handicap Index totals 43.0 strokes or more. Only one member of a team may have a USGA Handicap Index of 8.0 or less. Golfers interested in playing in the September 27th event at Morris County Golf Club who have formed their own teams and individuals who wish to be placed on a team should contact Amy Boroff by calling 908-889-2229 or sending an email to aboroff@ja.org. Amy can also be contacted for sponsorship and auction information.

Liberty Mutual entered into a three-year agreement in 2009 with Fortune Marketing Unlimited, Inc., the creator and manager of the amateur tournament series since 1988, to help manage the Liberty Mutual Invitational program on its behalf. The tournament series was formerly known as the Cadillac Invitational, a sponsorship that Cadillac, a division of General Motors, ended in 2009 after 19 years.
