Paramus Police Department Statement

It gives me great pleasure to report that, for the first time since the gun battle on February 6th, Police Officer Rachel Morgan is fully conscious, alert and able to communicate with us by writing.
One of her first written comments to me this morning was, “Tell me I’m coming back to work”. Officer Morgan’s “warrior” spirit, which kept her “in the fight” along with the incredible actions of Police Officer Hayo, is still as strong as ever. To see this type of bravery continue in Officer Morgan’s thoughts and actions at this time makes all of the members of the Paramus Police Department proud that she is one of ours. 

She is a credit to herself, her family, the department and the institution of law enforcement.

P.O. Morgan still has a long road to recovery ahead of her but for the first time since Sunday evening we have a confident belief that she is going to pull through this and return to who she always was, a tough but compassionate cop who thinks about serving others before herself.

Please keep Rachel in your prayers as well as all of the Paramus officers and the law enforcement community who have been affected by this crisis.
