Taste of Teaneck
It is all about “Service Above Self”. With that longstanding Rotarian motto in mind, Teaneck Rotarians Angelae Wilkerson, Susan Kayal and Tamarha Ellerbe forged forward with a wonderfully new fundraising event called the Taste of Teaneck event that was held at the Marriott-Glenpointe on January 16th. Linked to the Taste of Teaneck was a fabulous Tricky Tray Auction of over 100 items including premium prizes that were donated by The Marriott-Glenpoint and Davis, Saperstein and Salomon, PC.
A Successful Taste of Teaneck
Food establishments that participated in this event, showcasing their gastronomic uniqueness within the community were: Chai Ko Tapas, Chopstix, Classic Quiche, Elsa’s, Five Star Premier Residences of Teaneck, Honey Mediterranean, I Am Cupcakes (Little Ferry), Kirsten’s Touch of Love, Ma’adan, Marriott-Glenpointe, MK Valencia (Ridgefield Park), Regina’s, Teaneck General Store, Vitale’s, YoBoys Frozen Yogurt and Zoe’s Cupcakes.
Music for the evening was provided by Teaneck resident, Dave Ellson. Assistance was also provided by students of the Teaneck High School FORUM. Teaneck Flower Shop donated a floral arrangement and corsages/boutonniere’s for the Rotarians, other floral arrangements were donated by Encke Flowers and Gifts.
Attendees had the opportunity to experience the diversity of foods that can be found in and around Teaneck while helping the Rotary Club of Teaneck in its fund-raising efforts. Much of the monies raised go right back into helping all members of the community, either through TVAC, Helping Hands Food Pantry, the Community Scholarship fund and many other community programs. On the international level, Teaneck Rotary is pleased to be directly involved with the “Gift of Life Program”. An opportunity to help children get a second chance on life by providing a loving home while undergoing life saving heart surgery that could not be accomplished in their own countries. In addition to the tastings of different cuisines, the Tricky Tray auction was a long and winding table filled with wonderful gift items and a premium table with some extraordinary items. Many doanated from such community leaders as Marriott-Glenpointe, Davis, Saperstein & Salomon, Five Star Premier Residences of Teaneck, Amarone’s, HomeWatch CareGivers, members of the Rotary Club of Teaneck themselves, Amarone Ristorante, Victoria’s Restaurant, Bonefish Grill (Paramus), Victor’s Pizzeria, La Famiglia Ristorante, Vitale’s Restaurant and many, many others.
Fitting into Rotary International projects and objectives, is the just and equitable treatment of farmers and their families overseas. The Teaneck General Store provided Fair Trade coffee for the event. YoBoys Frozen Yogurt is another Fair Trade Teaneck Vendor. (www.fairtradeteaneck.org).
On February 29th, The Rotary Club of Teaneck will be hosting a Meet & Greet event at Classic Quiche from 5:30 pm to 7pm. Taste of Teaneck
Teaneck Rotary is open to all. The Rotary Club of Teaneck meets every Wednesday at 12 noon at Vitale’s, 293 Queen Anne Rd., Teaneck. Only cost is for lunch. Kosher meals can be provided with advance notice.
