Thursday, March 8th, International Women’s Day, members of Occupy Wall Street, Women Occupy, and CODEPINK will creatively protest the destructive policies of the world’s leading financial institutions, then join thousands of women in an International Women’s Day march across the Brooklyn Bridge and lead a protest to Bank of America to confront corporate greed.
When/Where: 10am, Waldorf Astoria (50th btwn Park and Lex.), Citi Financial Services Conference. 2pm, Bank of America Branch near Liberty Square (150 Broadway)
Visuals: All activists are encouraged to don their finest undergarments and scrawl messages on their bodies for flash mobs throughout the day to BUST CORPORATE GREED and BUST CORRUPTION. We are using our bodies to draw attention to the systemic greed and corruption embodied by the American banking system, as perfected by Bank of America. Singing too!
The Citi Finanical Services Conference will feature Bank of America CEO, Brian Moynihan, at 11am, via live-telecast. Bank of America is a foreclosure specialist, with some of the highest rates of house foreclosures in the nation. NYC actions will be one of many across the nation directed against BUSTING Bank of America.
Additionally, on Saturday, March 10th from 1-4 pm, a coalition of women will continue to celebrate International Women’s Day with a gathering in Union Square at 14th St including a protest at Bank of America and march down Broadway to Liberty Plaza. Please note that our permit has been denied so we will improvise and march on the sidewalk.
Occupy Wall Street is part of an international people powered movement fighting for economic justice in the face of neoliberal economic practices, the crimes of Wall Street, and a government controlled by monied interests. #OWS is the 99% organizing to end the tyranny of the 1%.
