#DesperateRothman stoops to new low by attacking Key Democratic constituency groups
On the heels of additional misleading, offensive, and outright false claims by Steve Rothman during their debate last night about labor support and labor leadership, Congressman William Pascrell today demanded an official retraction and an apology from Rothman to labor organizations across north Jersey and the entire state.
“We’ve endured wave after wave of false attacks and negative advertising from Steve Rothman, but last night’s claims were the final straw,” said Pascrell. “Hard working men and women across north Jersey have endorsed my candidacy and Steve Rothman cannot be allowed to misrepresent that support for the viewers watching the debate on News 12 last night. He continues to try and represent himself as a progressive and the 'Democrat’s Democrat' but he packed his bags and left his home to fight a Democrat instead of “Conservative’s Conservative” Scott Garrett. Now he has chosen to attack labor and insult those that didn’t choose to support him. As a Democrat, it all flies in the face of everything I believe in, and everything I fight for every single day. It is outrageous, and he should apologize immediately.”
Last night, after watching dozens of endorsements come in since January in support of Congressman Pascrell from local and state-wide labor, Congressman Rothman decided to use his closing statement to go on the attack, stating “"local labor, not the bosses down in Trenton, have endorsed me and are supporting me".
Over the past five months, Pascrell has received the endorsement of dozens of labor organizations, spanning the full cross-section across public and trade organizations of police, teachers, fire, laborers, carpenters, plumbers, pipe fitters, mail carriers, food and commercial workers, electricians, the building and construction trades and many, many more.
