Guest of Honor Lidia Bastianich, acclaimed public television personality, chef, restaurateur and best-selling cookbook author, welcomed other celebrity chefs and guests. Chef Jim Weaver, executive chef and owner of Princeton’s Tre-Piani, attended the event and signed his newly released book, Locavore Adventures.
This year’s event focused on the “farm to fork” concept and included products from local farm co-ops. Chefs who took part in the event included official Chef to the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games Scott Cutaneo of www.GreatScottChef.com; Chef Ryan DePersio of Fascino in Montclair, Bar Cara in Bloomfield, and Nico Kitchen and Bar at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Newark, NJ; Top Chef contestant Chef Ariane Duarte of CulinAriane in Montclair, NJ; the winner of the Food Network’s Chopped, Chef Michael Carrino from the former Restaurant Passionné in Montclair, and soon-to-open Pig & Prince Restaurant and Gastro Lounge; Chef Ninamarie Bojekian, who has been named “Ultimate Chef of Bergen County”; the winner of the Food Network’s Chopped Chef Eric Levine of Morris Tap and Grill, Randolph, NJ; and more than 50 other chefs from the metropolitan area who offered samplings of food, wine and other libations. The event also featured wines from Gary’s Wine & Marketplace.
Among the guests was Dina Manzo from HGTV’s Dina’s Party, former NY Giants player Karl Nelson, George Oliphant, host of George to the Rescue, and media personality Steve Adubato. Also in attendance was staff from Carlo’s Bakery, featured in TLC’s Cake Boss.
