Khuraira Musa, owner of Tenafly, NJ-based Khuraira Cosmetics, is well on her way to growing her business into a million dollar enterprise (something just 1.8% of women entrepreneurs nationwide have achieved) as a result of winning the 2012 Make Mine a Million $ Business competition, held in New York.
Make Mine a Million $ Business (M3) program, an initiative of Count Me In for Women’s Economic Independence and American Express OPEN, is designed to help women entrepreneurs strengthen their vision, build their strategy and take their businesses to one million dollars in revenue.
Khuraira is one of 30 awardees (selected out of 72 contenders), representing 11 states, who competed at the event described as a cross between “The Apprentice” and “American Idol,” and won by giving her two-minute elevator pitch in front a panel of judges ranging from past awardees to small business experts and other event attendees.
As a Make Mine a Million $ Business program awardee, Khuraira received:
• Six-months of free coaching and business education in Count Me In’s Business Accelerator Program
• One year’s Legislative membership to Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP)
• Special consideration for PR opportunities throughout the year
• Inclusion in the Make Mine a Million $ Business Yahoo group
