Stop & Shop Completes Remodel at Berkeley Heights Store on Springfield Avenue

Expanded store provides wider and improved variety of products. The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company LLC has completed a major remodel of its store located at 404 Springfield Avenue in Berkeley Heights. The store underwent a four-month remodel and store expansion to provide customers with an extensive product selection and features for a more convenient shopping experience.

“With an additional 3,000 square feet added to the original store, we are able to offer customers a wider variety of products at the everyday savings and value they expect from us,” said Peter Stretenovic, store manager. Customers in the Berkeley Heights area will find key departments such as produce, deli, meat, and seafood have been freshened with new décor and fixtures along with an improved variety of product. Other departments such as health and beauty care, dairy and frozen foods have been expanded.

Emphasizing Stop & Shop’s ongoing commitment to health and wellness, customers will find a broader assortment of natural and organic products in an expanded section called Nature’s Promise Marketplace, which includes more than 2,500 dairy, grocery and special diet selections. To assist customers on gluten-free diets due to celiac disease or other health concerns, the gluten-free products now have special blue coded shelf tags that highlight the products.

With an eye on energy conservation, LED lighting was newly installed in many areas of the store including overhead track lights, frozen food cases, spotlights on specialty display areas and exterior store signs. LED lights are longer-lasting and are expected to reduce wattage by half.

Customers in New Jersey can now take advantage of Stop & Shop’s Gas Rewards Program at participating Shell stations. For every dollar spent at Stop & Shop on purchases (some restrictions apply), customers will earn one point, and for every 100 points they will receive 10 cents off per gallon of their next fuel purchase at participating New Jersey Shell stations. Customers will be able to save up to $2.20 per gallon by shopping at Stop & Shop and presenting their Stop & Shop loyalty card. Unlike other states, the discount will not appear at the pump but will be reflected on the customer’s receipt. Once points are earned they can be redeemed at any participating Shell station within 30 days from the date of purchase. The closest Shell station to the Berkeley Heights store is 6 River Road in Summit.

There will be Grand Reopening activities for customers and families to enjoy on Friday, October 12th from 2 pm to 7 pm; Saturday and Sunday, October 13th and 14th from 10 am to 3 pm. Activities range from our Passport Program of sampling treats to a spin at the prize wheel to win gifts to a cooking demonstration with complimentary recipe cards.
