Disaster Relief District 7490 Committee Announcement #7

Update as on Monday morning: To date we taken in 32 truck or car loads and have already delivered 14 very full Van or SUV loads to our area, to the Jersey Shoreline and to the east coast of New York. We have filled, and then emptied our 4,000 sf warehouse/sorting center in Paramus 3 times! We have even passed along 10 vans and 2 truckloads of used clothing to Goodwill, the Salvation Army and the Vietnam Vets Association. All of this is to the thanks to donations from Pennsylvania, Maryland, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Chicago, Connecticut, New York, New Hampshire, and Vermont, and by the efforts of 145 volunteers!

We still need more

Electric Heaters and Generators
New Cots and Mattresses, Blankets, Sheets and Pillows
Cleaning Supplies, Paper Towels, Rags and Spray bottles
Diapers, Depends, Soap, Shampoo, Toilet paper, First-aid kits, Peroxide and Bacitracin
Batteries, Flashlights, Pocket warmers, Work gloves, Rubber gloves and Masks
New Winter Coats, Hats, Gloves and Scarves
Non-perishables Food, Baby food, Pet food and Water

Please note we CANNOT accept any old or used clothing or bedding of any type.

We need cash donations and gift cards for stores such as Lowe's, Home Depot, Walmart and Target, so that displaced residents can buy food, supplies, etc. to rebuild. Mel is a longtime Paramus resident and has belonged to many Paramus organizations. He is responsible for bringing the Scholarship Show to town and seeing to it that the initial presentation went over well. His five offspring were brought up through the Paramus school system. In addition, he is a longtime Paramus Rotary member.
