Theft At The Wesfield Garden State Shopping Center Halted By Paramus Police Officers
On Saturday 11/17/2012 at approximately 2pm, Paramus Officers responded to the Garden State Plaza in reference to a theft that had just occurred. Upon arrival Mall security reported to Paramus Officer Andrew Cofone that they had stopped 4 females that were suspected of stealing a cell phone from an employee’s locker at a store called “Love Culture”.
Further investigation by officers Andrew Cofone and Michael Boccher revealed that 18 year old Alexus Rhoden of Paterson had entered the back room of the store and removed the cell phone from the employees locker. Additionally, 18 year old Tashyma Thorne of Paterson was found to be in possession of over $200.00 worth of stolen merchandise. In addition, she had an outstanding criminal warrant for her arrest in the amount of $3,500.00 from Passaic. Both adults were placed under arrest and transported to Paramus Police headquarters. The other two females, both juveniles, were released. Ms. Rhoden was charged with providing false information to a police officer and possession of stolen property. She was later released. Ms. Thorne was charged with possession of stolen property and later turned over to the Passaic Police Department for the outstanding criminal warrant.
