Global Justice Presentation On November 19, 2012 Charlotte Bennett Schoen made a global justice presentation at the Englewood Woman's Club about the rewarding NGO assignment that she recently completed in Chiang Mai Thailand. Charlotte worked with an NGO arranged by American Jewish World Service; this was Charlotte's second AJWS assignment and she worked with migrant women, mainly Burmese, whose human rights are jeopardized.
Charlotte is a long time resident of Englewood, former Councilwoman and community activist.
The NGO that Charlotte worked at is a leader in promoting human rights for sex workers, many who are migrant women. The right to health, education, access to law, right to work were identified as human rights issues, especially within the struggles of migrant women who were previously exploited.
Clarification was made in relation to sex trafficking which was described as modern day slavery and the fact that children were always considered to be trafficked.
You're either part of the solution or you're part of the problem.
