East Brunswick, NJ Welcomes New School of Rock! Grand Opening Event Saturday December 1
By Mel Fabrikant Tuesday, November 27 2012 @ 02:49 PM EST
On Saturday December 1 from 12pm-4pm, East Brunswick will welcome a new School of Rock with an official grand opening event featuring tours of the new facility and a special meet and greet and clinic with the world- renowned drummer Carmine Appice (Rod Stewart, Vanilla Fudge, Ozzy Osbourne). Appice will speak about his incredible rock and roll career, and perform with the School of Rock Princeton house band. The school will also offer a special 20% enrollment discount off the first month of the program to any students who sign up at the grand opening.
Running the new location are a family of music lovers, co-owners and husband and wife- Joe and Denise Biondi, both longtime supporters of School of Rock. Denise is a former top scientist at Hoffman La Roche and was quite the guitar player in her teenage years. She was introduced to the program in 2005, when Joe’s brother Mark Biondi joined the program-Mark is currently the VP of Marketing. They both loved the mission of School of Rock, as did their son, who has been interning and teaching the program for the past five years. “School of Rock is a terrific way to inspire the community of East Brunswick with music,” said Denise. “The program has had incredibly positive effects on our family and we want to introduce the great impact that school of Rock can have to other families in East Brunswick.”
The school’s music director is the seasoned musician Rich Scannella, who currently plays drums in Jon Bon Jovi’s solo project. A third generation drummer who started playing at age nine, Scannella has toured, performed and/or recorded with legendary artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, Lady Gaga, Neal Schon (Journey), Sammy Hagar (Van Halen), Brian Fallon (The Gaslight Anthem), Glen Matlock (Sex Pistols), and Gene Cornish (The Rascals). He is also currently a member of Jon Bon Jovi’s band The Kings of Suburbia. Rich is so excited to bring this proven method of teaching music to the community of East Brunswick.
School of Rock uses a proprietary performance-based curriculum that teaches students to play rock music in a unique and interactive way. There are weekly individual lessons on guitar, bass, drums, keyboard and vocals along with weekly group sessions with seasonal performances.
School of Rock East Brunswick will be open Tuesday-Thursday from 3:00pm-9:00pm and Saturday from 10am-6pm. To learn more about School of Rock and find more information about the new location
