Somerset County Democratic Chair Endorses Barbara Buono For Governor

Chairwoman Peg Schaffer formally endorses Buono's candidacy for Governor - cites need for candidate who can excite Democrats in the general election.

"Senator Barbara Buono is the strongest candidate our party has to challenge Governor Christie this November. We can win this race if we have a candidate who will excite Democrats and Independents and I firmly believe Barbara Buono is that candidate. She is someone who has shown time and again that she represents the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party. Whether it is standing up for marriage equality, protecting a woman's right to choose, standing up for teachers and policemen and women, protecting our environment or fighting to strengthen our middle class, Barbara Buono stands for the core principles of the Democratic Party. I am pleased to endorse her candidacy," stated Somerset County Democratic Chairwoman Peg Schaffer.

Somerset County becomes the second county to endorse Buono's candidacy for Governor. This past week, Middlesex County Democratic Organization Chairman Peter Barnes along with several state legislators, mayors and leaders from within Middlesex County also endorsed Buono's candidacy.

Schaffer is the Managing Principal at the law firm, Shain, Schaffer & Rafanello, P.C., located in Bernardsville, New Jersey. She is a past President of Executive Women of New Jersey (EWNJ). For ten years (1985 - 1995) Ms. Schaffer was on the Board of Directors of the New Jersey State Bar Association, Banking Law Section, Chair from 1990 - 1991, and has been Director Emeritus from 1996 to present. Before being elected Chair of the Somerset County Democratic Committee, she served as the Bedminster Chair for five years.
