"Not one dime in new taxes, not one nickel in new spending, and for the love of God and the future of our country, not one red cent in new debt. Enough is enough."
In light of reports that House Speaker John Boehner has offered to increase tax rates on higher income Americans, many of whom own small businesses and keep millions of workers employed, TheTeaParty.net, the nation's largest Tea Party advocacy group, is vowing to hold the Speaker accountable if GOP leadership continues to negotiate for higher taxes now in return for vague White House promises on entitlement cuts later.
"If press reports about Speaker Boehner's proposed tax hikes are accurate and there is no immediate commitment from the White House on drastic cuts in entitlements, it's time for him to hand in the gavel. We have received hundreds of thousands of signed petitions from our members across the country and they do not want a tax hike on January 1. Many of our members are small business owners, and this so-called Plan B will cost Americans their jobs. Conservatives must rally behind a new Speaker if John Boehner continues to refuse to speak for us, and all Americans who are sick of more taxes, more spending, more debt, more government." said Niger Innis, TheTeaParty.net's national spokesman.
Bob Adams, TheTeaParty.net's Washington spokesman added, "Not one dime in new taxes, not one nickel in new spending, and for the love of God and the future of our country, not one red cent in new debt. Enough is enough. What's at stake here is nothing less than the future of the Republican party as a viable conservative political force."
"The Tea Party has demonstrated its power over the years in primary elections when candidates choose the establishment over conservative principles. They usually pay the price at the ballot box. We're going to make sure that happens in 2014," added Innis.
Last week, on December 12, TheTeaParty.Net presented over 160,000 signed petitions refusing any new taxes to members of Congress at a press conference at the Capitol Hill Club.
TheTeaParty.Net is mobilizing its more than 2 million followers to call Speaker Boehner's office and to sign petitions demanding no new taxes.
TheTeaParty.net is a national non-profit 501(c)(4) organization created in 2009 for the education and advancement of the constitutional conservative values of the Tea Party movement.
