Forecast the Facts: Stalling and Inaction on Sandy Relief, Climate Cliff is Galling

Statement from Forecast the Facts and ClimateCliff.org Campaign Manager Brad Johnson:
“As Washington lawmakers praise themselves for averting the manufactured ‘fiscal cliff’ and scheduling a weeks late vote on Hurricane Sandy relief, their continued stalling on climate disasters and unwillingness to tackle the climate cliff becomes ever more galling,” said Brad Johnson, Forecast the Facts campaign manager. “Superstorm Sandy was the starkest evidence to date of the threat of climate change. We agree with Peter King that the American people need to stop giving money to Congressional allies of the fossil fuel industry who fail to stand by us in this time of need.”
Over the past month, thousands of Forecast the Facts members have called on Congress via the online petition site ClimateCliff.org to take action on the looming climate cliff, instead of dithering over the manufactured “fiscal cliff.” Congress finally reached a fiscal cliff agreement, but at the same time failed to pass critical relief for victims of America’s latest climate disaster, Superstorm Sandy, a decision that Rep. Peter King (R-NY) called “so immoral, so disgraceful, so irresponsible” that Americans should stop contributing to House Republicans.
