See Below, content from High School Student and Idol performer Gina Marie Enriquez, encouraging fellow students to attend the 8th Annual Englewood Idol- this was a great recap on the previous Idols and thought this would be great the media to use.
Next Thursday, January 17th, is Englewood Idol: THE GREATEST INTERSCHOLASTIC MUSIC COMPETITION OF THE
YEAR!!!
It's also for a great cause: the Dr. John Greico Scholarship Fund.
For those of you who haven't been to a show, or simply don't realize the
amount of talent shown in one night, here's some of the accomplishments of
former Idols:
- Erica Butler, Englewood Idol 2011 Winner & D-E Alumni '11, graduated
to GWU and continued her music studies there. Her freshman year, she was
part of a select group of students to sing at the White House.
- Oscar Zapata, Englewood Idol 2011 Finalist & DMAE Alumni '11, is now a
recognized name in Mexico, Honduras, Ecuador, and Colombia, has recently
won awards for his debut single "El Silencio De Tu Ausencia" in the Mexican
and Honduran Music awards, and is currently nominated for the
Colombian/Ecuadorian Music Awards. His sister will be competing this year.
- Brian Park, Englewood Idol 2011 Runner-Up & 2012 Winner, as well as
D-E Alumni '12, who was accepted to many well-known music conservatories,
currently attends Manhattan School of Music, and performed in the bergenPAC
for the Sandy Relief Concert.
- Heather Braverman, Englewood Idol Finalist 2012 & D-E Class '15, is
currently working on her debut album in Los Angeles and signed to SRP Music Group.
This years Idols include three of our own:
- Melissa Rosner '15
- Nigel Lassiter '14
- Gina Marie Enriquez '14
As well as the following from DMAE & Bergen Tech Paramus:
- Fabiola Zapata - AE '14
- Dasia Capers - DM '14
- Stephanie Nuñez - BT '13
- Amy Blue - DM '16
- Natalie Sanchez - DM '14
- Rebekah Han - AE '16
- Jennie DeCastro - AE '13
- Myshya Spencer - DM '14
- Tyler Vidale - DM '13
Now, not to say that other years there wasn't incredibly strong
competition, because there was, but this year, THE COMPETITION IS REAL.
Absolutely ANYONE CAN TAKE IT. If you were to ask anyone that has been in
the competition (whether it be a contestant or student assistant), they
will tell you that this is by far one of the most talented groups to ever
compete against each other. It's the most exciting show we've had in a
while. In fact, it's so huge that for the first time, there will be TWO
HOSTS from our school- our seniors Alex De Los Reyes '13 and Kylah Gonzalez
'13.
On top of all that, Dwight has THREE DIFFERENT DANCE CREWS. That's three
different opportunities to take home first place.
Our dancers in there respective groups are:
- Kylah Gonzalez '13
- Amani Wynters '15
- Zoe Oz '13
- Kara Byron '13
- Danni Chalfin '13
______________________________________________________
- Grace Bradley '14
- Casey Danoff '16
- Hannah Luchs '16
______________________________________________________
- Eric Miller '13
- David Lysenko '15
- Arnav Mehta '16
Also for your entertaining pleasure, Avery Singer '13 joined students at
Dwight Morrow to make a hilarious video that will be featured at the show!
Honestly, if you consider yourself someone who appreciates music, whether
it be casually or avidly, THIS IS THE SHOW FOR YOU.
In the words of Ms. Aronson (the producer), "You should all be here. The absolute only semi-valid reason for you to miss [this show] would be if you're hooked up to an IV in the hospital."
Tickets will be sold by Ms. Frankel, Melissa Rosner, Nigel Lassiter, and
myself (Gina). T-shirts and Sweatpants will also be sold with the Englewood
Idol logo on it.
