Rep. Pascrell to Make Major Federal Fire Grant Announcement in Paterson

U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09), a leader in the Congress on public safety, will join Paterson Fire Chief Michael Postorino and Paterson FMBA President Carlos Pagan to announce a major new federal fire grant on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 10:00 am at Paterson Fire Department Headquarters at 850 Madison Avenue.
This announcement will have a direct impact upon the future of the Paterson Fire Department which faces major decisions in the wake of severe funding cuts at the state and local level.
Rep. Pascrell was a prime author and mover of both the Firefighter Investment Response Enhancement (FIRE) Act and the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Act, which together have provided $8.68 billion in federal funding since fiscal year 2001 for local fire departments to have the staffing, equipment and training necessary to protect the public. Rep. Pascrell an original member of the Homeland Security Committee has made funding for first responders a priority in the Congress.
