In the past few days, Walmart has been flooded with hundreds of calls from concerned citizens, and Facebook posts by thousands of Americans urging the retailer to stand up for common sense gun regulations and stop selling assault weapons and munitions in their stores. The intensifying action comes after a rally and the delivery of over 300,000 signatures to a Walmart store in Danbury, Connecticut on Tuesday, January 15th in which gun violence survivors were joined by progressive organizations and consumer watchdogs to demand the retailer take action.
Since the petition delivery on Tuesday, more then 10,000 people have taken to Walmart’s Facebook page to register their voices and urge Walmart executives to honor their 2004 pledge and stop selling assault weapons and ammunition.

Additionally, organizers from SumofUs.org, MomsRising and Courage Campaign report that more than 2500 Walmart customers have placed calls to Walmart corporate headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas urging the company to stop selling assault weapons in all of their stores. More calls are expected today and throughout the weekend.
