HackensackUMC recently opened the Dr. Earl & Ingrid Doyne Corner Shop inside the John Theurer Cancer Center. This latest addition to the HackensackUMC Auxiliary offers customers a highly-specialized shopping experience.
“The Dr. Earl & Ingrid Doyne Corner Shop caters to patients being treated in the John Theurer Cancer Center, offering items that are very special and specific to their needs,” said Robert C. Garrett, president and chief executive officer, Hackensack University Health Network. “This corner shop will not only benefit our patients and their families, but the entire medical center as well.”
The Astoria Surgical Women’s Health Boutique, located within the Dr. Earl & Ingrid Doyne Corner Shop, provides customized fittings, catering to women who have had breast surgeries in the environment of a high-end shop. The shop offers essential items including, mastectomy products, reconstruction garments, post surgical camisoles, bathing suits, lymphedema sleeves and supplies, wigs and accessories.
The Dr. Earl & Ingrid Doyne Corner Shop will also provide a wide variety of treats, sundries, reading material and gifts.
HackensackUMC works closely with top breast and reconstruction surgeons to meet customers’ post-surgical needs and the staff is comprised of trained professionals with years of experience. To make this highly-specialized shopping experience as smooth as possible, the Astoria Surgical Women’s Boutique submits insurance claims for customers.
The HackensackUMC Auxiliary, which oversees the medical center’s four corner shops, is the largest of its kind in New Jersey and predates the hospital’s creation in 1888.
The other corner shops include:
• The Corner Shop in the Banta Lobby of the main hospital, which offers a wide assortment of tempting treats, sundries, reading material and seasonal as well as every day gifts.
• The Children’s Gift Shop, located in the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital, is a virtual menagerie of stuffed animals, toys, games and books - just what the doctor ordered to keep the youngest patients entertained and comforted during their stay.
• The Sandra Kissler Gift Shop in the Donna A. Sanzari Women’s Hospital offers reading materials and items for new mothers and their babies.
The Auxiliary’s corner shops serve HackensackUMC’s physicians, employees, visitors and patients. Fully staffed by Auxiliary volunteers, these shops offer a wide variety of merchandise at reasonable prices and all profit derived from their operation helps support the goals of the HackensackUMC Foundation.
