With the economy the way it is and perhaps the remaining effects of superstorm Sandy, homelessness remains an issue. The mission of the Bergen County Housing, Health and Human Services Center is to help end homelessness by providing a full continuum of housing services including homelessness prevention, temporary shelter, and permanent placement.
The Center 1) serves as a one-stop location and single point of entry for individuals to receive information, care management, health and human services, and financial assistance, 2) is open 24 hours per day throughout the year, 3) is a key feature in the Bergen County Ten Year Plan to End Chronic Homelessness, 2008 and is the foundation of a concentrated, community-wide effort to find permanent housing for people who are homeless.
The Rotary Club of Teaneck has been a fixture in the community since 1929 providing assistance in a variety of community programs and projects as well as reaching out internationally through such projects as Gift of Life, International Student Exchange or Eradicating Polio, to name a few. Rotary as a whole has been there to help in disaster relief efforts, consoling families and attending to the needs of individuals. Their motto “Service above Self”.
The Rotary Club of Teaneck meets every Wednesday at 12 noon at Vitale’s, 293 Queen Anne Rd., Teaneck. All are welcome. Only cost is for lunch. Kosher meals can be provided with advance notice. If you would like additional information on the Rotary Club of Teaneck including membership, programs and events, please contact TeaneckRotary@gmail.com or visit www.TeaneckRotary.com.
