Prompted By Two Local Break-ins, Paramus Police Are Reminding Residents to Take Security Safeguard Steps

On 1/302013 between 10:08am and 11:20am suspect(s) unlawfully entered a residence on Mackay Ave through a basement window. The home was not occupied at the time. It was apparent to detectives that several rooms had been ransacked. It was reported that the thief or thieves took some jewelry and a laptop computer.
On 2/2/2013 between 6:00pm and 8:40pm, suspect(s) unlawfully entered a residence on Sycamore Street by forcing in the front door of the home. Once inside, the suspect(s) ransacked several bedrooms on the second floor, and removed an unknown amount of jewelry. The home was not occupied at the time. Paramus detectives processed both burglary scenes and are investigating.
Police are reminding residents to remember to lock all doors and activate any alarm system, regardless of how short in duration they leave the home unattended. Police are asking residents to be vigilant in reporting any suspicious activity that they may observe.
