Republican State Leadership Committee Announces Formation of Future Majority Caucus

The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) today announced the formation of the Future Majority Caucus (FMC) to support candidates and elected officials running for office at the state level. The FMC is the newest phase of the Future Majority Project (FMP) - an RSLC initiative begun during the 2012 election cycle to create a long-term, sustained commitment of significant contributions of time and resources to support and elect women, African Americans and Americans of Hispanic and Asian descent to state offices.

The FMC effort will be overseen by Ed Gillespie, who returns to the RSLC chairmanship after having taken a leave to serve as senior advisor to the Romney for President campaign last year. Gillespie will also lead the RSLC’s other existing caucuses in the 2013-14 election cycle: The Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA); the Republican Lieutenant Governors Association (RLGA), the Republican Secretaries of State Association (RSSA) and the Republican Legislative Campaign Committee (RLCC).
Gillespie, a longtime proponent of increasing the GOP’s appeal to minority voters, launched the RSLC’s Future Majority Project in 2011 and is committed to supporting the newly formed Caucus and all RSLC initiatives to build a strong field team in the states.

"The RSLC remains focused on growing the Republican Party - one of the most important components to winning elections- and most importantly enacting good policies," Gillespie said in announcing the formation of the Future Majority Caucus. "The FMC will provide much needed support to leaders in our states growing the economy, supporting job creators and focusing on ways to keep more money in the pockets of working families. I'm honored to again serve as the RSLC’s chairman as it seeks to ensure the strongest leaders possible are leading the way in our states."
The newly formed Caucus will be led by Honorary Co-chairs Governors Susana Martinez of New Mexico and Brian Sandoval of Nevada. The Caucus will support the goals of the Project, and will expand the scope of recruitment and support offered by the RSLC to more closely reflect the diversity of our nation.

"We applaud the Republican State Leadership Committee's strong plan to recruit and support diverse candidates across the states," said FMC Co-Chairs Martinez and Sandoval. "The Future Majority Caucus has brought together key leaders in communities across the nation to implement a long-term and sustained engagement plan with Hispanic candidates, Asian and African American candidates, and candidates of diverse backgrounds to elect and grow a new generation of Republican leaders. We welcome these leaders as we work together to tackle the challenges in our states of reducing the size and scope of government, ensure freedom and liberty, and make the American Dream a reality."

As part of today’s launch, the RSLC is also targeting voters through online advertising across social networks promoting the Future Majority Caucus in both English and Spanish.

About the RSLC
The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) is the largest caucus of Republican state leaders in the country and the only national organization whose mission is to elect down-ballot, state-level Republican officeholders. Since 2002, the RSLC has been working to elect candidates to the office of lieutenant governor, attorney general, secretary of state and state legislator. The RSLC has more than 100,000 donors in all 50 states. In the 2011-2012 election cycle, the RSLC invested in 42 states, breaking previous fundraising and political spending records, set in 2009-2010, with an increase in fundraising by 28 percent to $39 million and an increase in direct political spending by 35 percent to $27 million. This cycle’s effort picked up six new legislative chambers, saw a net gain in 30 chambers, created or expanded 16 Republican supermajorities and picked two new attorneys general. Additionally, the RSLC successfully launched the Future Majority Project, spending more than $5.5 million in direct support of Republican candidates of Hispanic descent and women, and investing to expand digital outreach efforts to millennial voters.
