Buono: It's Time For Christie To Accept Federal Funding For Medicaid Expansion

Gubernatorial candidate and State Senator Barbara Buono released the following statement today:
"The question is, how many Governors will it take before Governor Christie is convinced that accepting federal funding to expand Medicaid coverage is the right thing to do?

Today, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder became the sixth Republican Governor and the 21st state chief executive to take this important step. Accepting federal funding to expand Medicaid will provide healthcare to 300,000 New Jerseyans who are currently without insurance. Governor Christie's vacillating is leaving New Jersey's most vulnerable populations hanging in the balance and increasing state healthcare costs as more people go to the emergency room for routine visits. It's time for him to do the right thing and stop catering to the extreme conservative ideologues of the Republican party to further his national aspirations."
