Dumpling class at Paramus Library As is her custom, Sophie Stone, adorned in Chinese attire, as was Christy her daughter, taught a group of about 25 students how to make Chinese dumplings from scratch. Assisted by Tin Tin, her mother, and Alexa Soto from the Library staff, Mrs. Stone provided atmosphere, instructions and the basic materials for folding the victuals from round shaped dough rings into regular Chinese Dumplings. Her mother was kept busy behind the scenes throughout the entire learning process for the youngsters cooking dumplings for them to sample and eat.
Of course they had to be eaten with chop sticks which Sophie Stone had thoughtfully provided. She even gave instructions to those that were unfamiliar with using these eating utensils. The students enjoyed the learning process although some seemed to take too much enjoyment. They were able to fold the dough into the familiar dumpling shape and were given bags in which to take the uncooked dumplings home.
Librarian Len LoPinto checked in to see how everyone was doing!
