On 2/09/2013 at approximately 8:40 pm, Paramus Officers were dispatched to a complaint of shoplifting, occurring at Macy’s in the Garden State Plaza. The responding officers were advised that the suspect assaulted a Macy’s loss prevention officer and was fleeing from the scene in the direction of Farview Ave. The suspect, later identified as 22 year old Jahleel Gregory of Brooklyn NY, was located by Officer Don McNair and Officer Matt Parrello on Cloverdale Ave. The suspect ignored the officers commands and resisted apprehension.
With the assistance of Officer Lattanzi, the officers were able to secure him and place him under arrest. In addition to the store merchandise, he was found to be in possession of a tool commonly used to defeat security sensors. He was charged with robbery, resisting arrest, and possession of burglary tools. He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of $20,000 pending court appearance.
