Gubernatorial candidate and State Senator Barbara Buono released the following statement:
"Today, my colleagues on the Assembly Law and Public Safety Committee debated two dozen bills that would reduce gun violence. This comprehensive package of legislation will make streets safer for our children and send a clear message to the rest of the United States that New Jersey will not stand idly by as the scourge of gun violence ravages our streets.
"While Governor Christie is busy fundraising in California, I commend the committee for diligently working on this issue. If elected governor, I promise to use all the powers of the office to ensure that our law enforcement officials have every tool necessary to protect New Jerseyans.
"When the Senate reconvenes next week, I will announce legislative proposals to lower the threat of gun violence in our communities. I look forward to working with the assembly to pass an all-inclusive package."
