Frances Rosario-Puleo of New Milford Selected to Perform with Verismo Opera Chorus in I Pagliacci

Rosario-Puleo, a soprano, appeared last October in the company’s successful production of Madama Butterfly at the bergenPAC. “It was a great experience, as I enjoyed being in character with costume and make-up on stage performing. I wore a wig for the first time in my life. I loved the preparation; the rehearsals with Maestro Morss and Chorus Director Mara Waldman were so excellent. Maestro Morss gave us much information regarding the background of the opera and the story.
The chorus sings more in I Pagliacci than in Madama Butterfly. I Pagliacci is quite verismo; I am part of a bustling and anxious crowd looking forward to watching a group of travelling performers. I am excited and impatient. This feels quite real, as we have all experienced being in the audience of an event such as an outdoor concert or a ball game,” she said.
Singing and dancing keep her busy. When she is not singing with Verismo Opera, Rosario-Puelo sings and serves as the choir director of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Emerson. A professional dancer, she has performed with the Nancy Meehan Dance Company for over 20 years. As a member of Bergen DanceMakers, she has presented her choreographic works and also sung in the organization’s performances in New York and New Jersey. She holds a master of arts in dance from Brigham Young University.
