André De Shields Joins The Growing List Of Performers For Bridge Studio For The Performing Arts Annual Variety Show Showstoppers

North Jersey’s Bridge Studio for the Performing Arts excitedly announces the addition of André De Shields to their amazing lineup of performers for their 3rd annual variety show, entitle SHOWSTOPPERS. SHOWSTOPPERS will take place on Saturday, March 9th at 7:30PM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church (344 Washington Ave., Dumont, NJ). Tickets are $30 in advance and $40 at the door.  A consummate showman, De Shields has been wowing audiences for over 4 decades, as an actor, singer, director, novelist, choreographer and educator. Fame found him as he was cast as the title character of the celebrated musical The Wiz in 1975. He has performed on stage, screen and TV and has garnered many awards including Tony nominations, Drama Desk Awards and an Emmy for his work on the NBC presentation of Ain't Misbehavin. On March 9th, De Shields will offer a magical treat to audiences as he brings to life the colorful life of the Wizard of Oz when he performers a selection from The Wiz. “We are so very excited that Mr. De Shields will bring his level of talent to the Dumont stage. And to have the opportunity to hear him sing the songs that helped launch his career is really an amazing treat.” Ken Melamed, Bridge Studio for the Performing Arts.

SHOWSTOPPERS, will feature stars of stage and screen including multi- award winning performer André De Shields (Film: The Inheritance, Broadway: Full Monty, Impressionism, Prymate); Alex Chester (Film: The Mermaid. Stage: How The Grinch Stole Christmas); Teddy Coluca (Broadway’s The Ritz,NBC’s “30 Rock”); Ryan Duncan (Film: Stand By, Broadway: Shrek the Musical); Andrea Prendamano (Films: Showers of Happiness, Fight the Panda Syndicate); Kay Story (Cinemax’s “Banshee” Broadway: Jekyll & Hyde);Elizabeth Synnott (Barefoot in the Park, Terrance McNally’s Master Class, Chichester Psalms at Carnegie Hall);

Bridge Studio for the Performing Arts, located in Northern New Jersey, strives to be the bridge to the performing outlet of the world, New York City. Its goal is to create an artistic environment that welcomes all to express their talents freely. Bridge Studio began with the belief that all of its students, regardless of age or level, fuse their creative energies with their everyday lives. The studio caters to all levels of performers from professional performer, up and coming stars of stage and screen and those who want to learn the behind-the-scenes action. Bridge Studio was founded by Elizabeth N. Synnott and Ken Melamed.
