Yesterday, the State Assembly passed new legislation that would help mitigate gun violence on our streets. According to PolitckerNJ, 'Governor Christie reiterated his unwillingness to embrace 20-plus gun bills the Democratic Majority [advanced].'
Gubernatorial candidate and State Senator Barbara Buono released the following statement:
"Speaking in Connecticut yesterday, Vice President Biden put it best when he told lawmakers, 'If you’re concerned about your political survival you should be concerned about the survival of our children.' In the same afternoon, Governor Christie proved that he is willing to put his national political ambitions above the safety of New Jersey families.
"Rather than giving his support to commonsense legislation passed by the Assembly to enact commonsense reforms to reduce gun violence, the Governor declared that he would 'study' the bills to satisfy the right wing of the Republican party. As Vice President Biden said, 'there is a moral price to be paid for inaction' and Governor Christie seemingly does not care about the cost."
