Buono Statement On Legislation For Oversight Of Hurricane Sandy Funds

Gubernatorial candidate and State Senator Barbara Buono released the following statement today:
"Today, the State Senate passed two important pieces of legislation that will ensure appropriate oversight and full transparency regarding funding earmarked to help New Jersey's families rebuild after Hurricane Sandy.
"While I applaud my colleagues for taking swift action on these bills, it is a sad state of affairs that these were required in the first place. Allegations of pay-to-play political donations, the overcharging of New Jersey's taxpayers by a Florida-based firm, and Governor Christie's unwillingness to explain the selection process to New Jersey's taxpayers have necessitated legislative action.
"As a show of good faith to the people of New Jersey, Governor Christie should sign these bills as soon as they reach his desk. It is the only way we can be sure that money appropriated goes to families still struggling to rebuild their lives."
