Marijuana Odor And Drug Paraphenalia Detected By Paramus Police

On February 28th at 12:30 a.m. Officer Dmitriy Mazur was patrolling in the lot of Miller’s Ale House on Route 4 when he observed a vehicle stopped in the fire lane. Officer Mazur approached the vehicle to see if the vehicle’s occupants required any assistance. While speaking with the occupants, he detected an odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle. Assisted by Officer Joseph Cullen, further investigation by Officer Mazur revealed that the occupants, 23 year old Jefferson Moronta and 23 year old William Perez – both from Teaneck, were in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Both individuals were placed under arrest and transported to Paramus Police Headquarters.
Mr. Moronta and Mr. Perez were both charged with possession of marijuana – under 50 grams, and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were later released pending court appearance.
