Students of West Brook’s Young Astronauts Club have started the rocket building process. Students began their adventure by learning the art of aerodynamics. Students were asked to build boomerangs out of paper plates. Students experimented with the design of the boomerang and realized that there were certain ways to achieve better distance and speed. Students had a great time creating the flying objects and many took them home.
Students have also begun to create modified rockets. Students started Thursday’s meeting with using film containers, alka-seltzer and water, and water to create rockets. Students went outside after constructing them and were able to see their rockets in action. Students are excited for the next stage of rocket building. Students will begin the long process of building model rockets. Students will then launch their rockets in May.
