Jan Zientek Senior Program Coordinator, Rutgers New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station, organizes community gardens.
He is a lifelong organic gardener, serves as senior agriculture program coordinator in Essex County, providing support for Master Gardeners and urban and community gardeners, and works with community-based and governmental organizations to develop and deliver his programming. Recently, Jan was awarded the Rutgers Cooperative Extension (RCE) Diversity Award for the Department of Agricultural and Resource Management Agents (ARMA), for “outstanding efforts and accomplishments in achieving and sustaining diversity in Extension organizations, programs, and audiences.”
Join Master Gardeners for Jan’s presentation on how to organize a community garden including: finding collaborators, location, water, insurance, fees, maintenance, rules and regulations…and more.
The presentation will be held on: Tuesday March 19, 2013 at 7:30pm, at The County Administration Building, One Bergen Plaza, County Place, Hackensack, NJ. in the Learning Center on the 1st floor, Home of the County Extension Office. There is plenty of parking & easy access to the building. Meetings are open to all interested gardeners, free of charge, and refreshments, followed by announcements, start at 7pm.
