Hartz Mountain Industries’ Web Site Receives A New Look And Expands Its History Page To Include A Pictorial Timeline

Hartz Mountain Industries web site at www.hartzmountain.com has debuted a new look featuring an expanded history page to complement information on its holdings that now include those in the residential asset class.
The highlight of the site’s facelift is an interactive pictorial timeline about the company’s evolution from its beginning in 1926 when family patriarch, Max Stern, immigrated to America with 5,000 singing canaries which he sold to John Wanamaker Department Store’s Pet Department despite not knowing a word of English.
Max Stern was a business world pioneer and his business acumen was clearly present in his son, Leonard, when he took over the business at age 21 in 1959, and again when his grandson’s Emanuel and Edward joined the company in the 1990’s.
Through their dedicated efforts, the Hartz Mountain brand expanded from what became the world’s most well-known pet food brand, to a real estate giant that started with the construction of a 700,000 square feet of speculative industrial distribution facility in Bayonne, NJ, and grew to the present portfolio of more than 38 million square feet of retail, hotel, office, industrial, and residential properties.
Along the way, Hartz Mountain has become a leader in sustainability initiatives, earning the distinction as one of the top 20 solar power users in the U.S. by Solar Energy Industry Association (SEIA).
“The Hartz Mountain story is a great example of the American Dream, and the timeline celebrates the work my father, brother and I have done to continue my grandfather’s legacy,” said Emanuel Stern, president and COO for Hartz Mountain Industries. “When visitors come to the site looking for available space, they can see the strength of a company that has adapted to not just survive but thrive during numerous economic cycles throughout the 20th and 21st centuries.”
