“Each year your generosity and thoughtfulness touch the lives of all our third graders. Thank you once again for the beautiful dictionaries. The children were so thrilled to find so many areas of information that the book teaches besides definitions and spelling. The children will spend all their days learning about our presidents, states, planets, and much more.”
“Thank you for reminding the children how important volunteerism and acts of kindness are to making a stronger world. The children are excited to someday become members of the Teaneck Rotary Club.”
“Thank you again for your devotion to others regardless of the economical times and sad events that require people to work as a supportive team.”
This was the letter from L. Amorosi-Mass and her third graders at Hawthorn School.
Every year the Rotary Club of Teaneck donates over 600 dictionaries to third graders in Teaneck’s public schools.
Each year the question is who is more overwhelmed… the Rotarians, the students or the teachers. While the look and the reactions of the students are priceless, the letters they write are precious, it is amazing that a book adults might take for granted are so treasured by our youth.
It is experiences like this and the many other community deeds that the Rotarians of Teaneck perform everyday that lend credence to the Rotary’s motto of “Service above self.”
The Rotary Club of Teaneck has served the Teaneck Community since 1929 and through the efforts of its members who have given so much of their time and the many fund raising events, has managed to contribute to so many community organizations. In addition to its community involvements from the Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps to the Helping Hands Food Pantry, internationally, Teaneck Rotary is committed to the Gift of Life program and currently hosting a student through Rotary International’s student exchange program.
Rotary is not affiliated to any particular religious group nor is it affiliated to any political group. With over 1,216,000 members in over 200 countries world-wide, Rotary has made an impact to over a billion people world-wide through its many projects including making the world today, 99% Polio Free. Rotary’s goal is to eradicate Polio completely.
