Just Label It Commends the Natural Products Association For Its Commitment to a National Standard for GE Labeling

The national Just Label It coalition commends the Natural Products Association for supporting a national solution for mandatory labeling of genetically engineered (GE) food.

“More and more representatives from the food industry, such as the Natural Products Association, are recognizing the importance of labeling GE foods” said Scott Faber, Executive Director of Organic Voices and VP of Government Affairs at the Environmental Working Group. “Every American should have the right to know what is in their food, a right that consumers in 62 other countries already have. We encourage more industry voices to come to the table and support the 90 percent of Americans who want the right to know whether the food they’re eating and feeding their families contains GE ingredients.”
Earlier this month, national retailer Whole Foods Market announced their commitment to consumer transparency by promising labels on all genetically engineered foods in their stores by 2018. They are the first national grocery store chain to require labeling.
