Paramus Sunrise Rotary. Together, they are coordinating a Gift of Life child from Chin State, Myanmar (Burma). The host family for this event to take place October in Paramus is none other than that of our First Lady, MaryAnn LaBarbiera. Doctor Thu Yein Lwin of Myanmar/Burma visited his friends, the Reverend Dr. Samuel M. and Sophie Stone. Dr. Lwin, MD, the head of the Peti Foundation, has a daughter who is taking a summer course at Yale Young Global Scholars. His interest in the Peti Foundation in Yangon, Myanmar allows him to partner with his schoolmate and her Rotary Club,
Mayor LaBarbiera asked Dr. Lwin to the Paramus Borough Hall where he gave him a Commendation. Assisting in the ceremonies were Paramus Sunrise Rotarians, Sophie Stone, Joe D'Arco and Mel Fabrikant. In return, Dr. Lwin presented the Mayor with a picture of Burmese culture that the Mayor will proudly display. After the ceremony, the Rotarians plus Lwin went outside to admire D'Arco's motorcycle which was parked just outside the offices. An avid rider, Joe D'Arco has themed his bike to honor several causes. In addition, he is having a Rotary wheel painted on one side of his vehicle.
Sophie Stone, President of the Paramus Sunrise Rotary Club, is looking forward to working with the Peti Foundation in the future to further the ideals of the Gift of Life.
