Completing Household Tasks Productively

Do you find yourself getting distracted when completing your household chores so they take much longer to finish than they need to? And the longer your housework takes, the less time you will have to relax and enjoy your free time! The following tips will help you to keep your mind on the tasks in hand, and may even make housework enjoyable.
1. Create a rota of the chores you need to complete
When it comes to cleaning and doing chores around the home, you can either do the bare minimum to make sure everywhere is tidy and clean on the surface, or you can do a deep clean. Housework can be never ending, when you feel you have cleaned and tidied everything you can, it will be time to do it all again. A good tip is to create a rota, and write down what chores need to be completed on a daily basis, weekly basis and monthly basis. Once you have separate lists, you can stick to the schedule and you’ll find it much easier to keep on top of everything, knowing that there is an end in sight.
2. Multi-task to get the job done quicker
There are certain chores you can complete at the same time to save time and be more productive. For example, put a load of dirty washing in the washing machine and while the cycle is running you can be getting on with washing the dishes. Leave the dishes to dry while you brush the floor. Put the dry dishes away and mop the floor. And while the floor is drying, hang out the washed clothes on the line. Stick another load in, and the chain continues...! Also by mixing the chores up like this will help to relieve any boredom – especially if there is any task you particularly don’t like doing.
3. Set yourself challenges
It’s possible to turn housework into a game, which can also help to keep you fit at the same time. Set yourself a challenge where you aim to get a particular chore done in a certain amount of time. You can use an online alarm clock to keep track of how much time has passed, and the alarm will alert you to when your time is up. By creating a time goal, you will feel motivated to complete the task as quickly as possible to try and beat your previous time, which not only improves productivity, but can also provide a form of exercise – without leaving the house.
And finally, if you find yourself being distracted while doing chores, just remember, the quicker you complete the housework, the more free time you will have to relax and enjoy.
