“I would like to congratulate Dr. Maza on her designation,” said Joseph E. Parrillo, M.D., chairman of the Heart & Vascular Hospital. “In order to provide the award-winning level of excellent care at HackensackUMC, we need a world-class team of physicians. This is evident in the numerous awards, accolades and designations received by our medical team, including Dr. Maza.”
Fellowship with the ASE recognizes distinguished ASE members with a diverse set of skills and comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of echocardiography. FASE is a designation for physicians, research scientists and sonographer members, and it recognizes those who have achieved the highest level of contributions to the field in areas of teaching, leadership and research. Less than 8 percent of ASE members have earned this designation.
Members who achieve FASE have credentials, education and membership in place and have submitted documentation of their contributions and recommendation letters attesting to their commitment to the advancement of our profession. Candidates undergo a lengthy application process that culminates in a vote of approval by a committee of leaders in the field of cardiovascular ultrasound.
The Heart & Vascular Hospital at HackensackUMC is home to an Echocardiography Laboratory that is accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission of Echocardiography. Accreditation is granted only to those facilities that are found to be providing quality patient care. The Cardiovascular Laboratory Department works closely with cardiologists to provide a full range of diagnostic studies on the heart, including exercise stress echocardiograms, transthoracic echocardiograms, and transesophageal echocardiograms.
