The Foolish Dandelion by author Karen Ott is the unique story of a young dandelion learning about life and how your choices impact your future.
Ott, a mother looking to share valuable maternal lessons, was inspired to write The Foolish Dandelion by watching the choices made by her children and their friends. Her children’s book discusses real-world themes that will appeal to children as well as their parents.
“In the book, the dandelion leaves the comfort of his own home in search of beauty in another garden,” said Ott. “He struggles through many adventures, only to eventually realize this new garden is no more beautiful than the home he left.”
For Ott, it was important to make the dandelion young and naive, as she saw him as a child who didn’t yet understand the world or appreciate the fact that happiness is a gift you give yourself, not something that you can rely on others to give you.
“Watching the choices made by my children and their friends greatly influenced this book,” said Ott. “Watching them taught me there are just some things in life we must experience to truly understand. All children should learn this at a young age.”
